This old sweet lady is Alla. She’s 84 years old. Half of her house was destroyed after a shell. You can see the big holes in her walls and ceiling. She said last winter was terribly cold. She didn’t know how she would survive it. When she called us and asked to insulate her windows, she was crying and begging us to help her. With this window insulation, we know she will be much warmer this winter.

Maya lives alone.

She is one of the most positive people we have ever met, even after her apartment was shelled. All the windows were destroyed and she was so cold in her house. This is Valentina and she lives alone. When a shell exploded next to her house, it broke the kitchen window. She covered it with plywood, but of course she didn’t like it. The kitchen was cold and dark. She said that during the winter, before going into the kitchen, she would run the gas stove to warm the room up a little. Then she could use the kitchen to cook. Now, thanks to the window insulation, it will be light and warmer next winter.

This is Anna. She and her husband were at work when the shell hit, but their pregnant daughter was at home. She was terrified. Anna was afraid that she might lost her baby. She had to spend some time in the hospital. They didn’t want to close the window with plywood because light is very important for Anna.
