Report from Anna

Today was the last day of the first session, and the completion of all the projects. We did a dress rehearsal for the dances, edited the sound for the movies, and the kids finished up the T-shirts.

We also had a guest, a journalist Svetlana, who interviewed the children. The children watched their own films with great emotions and pride.

At the end of the day the children gathered together and showed what they had accomplished.  They received diplomas and we had a celebration!  The most tender moment was when the youngest group of children sang the Ukrainian anthem (hymn).  We had a super day. We are like family!

The children did not want go home. All groups asked about continuing the sessions.

This is Galina. She lives on the shore. Her house is on the line where russians shell all the time. Her house is one of many others that were damaged. All of the windows were destroyed. Thanks to UkrainianChildren.org we Insulate her windows. She was very happy about this.

We need funding to help keep this project going. As little as $15 can replace a window.

The need is big, but small donations will make a difference!

This is Dmytro. A couple months ago a shell hit  directly under his building. On the pictures you can see the holes in the wall. He was at home when this happened. Praise God he wasn’t injured because he was in the back room. He said that since his windows were insulated it isn’t so hot in his apartment.

We need funding to help keep this project going. As little as $15 can replace a window.

Today the children took a trip to the Botanical Garden and visited the Tropical greenhouses. They were inspired by the beauty of the many plants, including a plant that eats flies! They also saw many foreign trees including palms, citrus, cocoa and banana trees!

Back at camp they celebrated their teacher’s birthday and left her good wishes on the board.

There was a variety of creativity happening today as well. Our talented children worked with clay, while some made leaf rubbing art, and they watched some of the films that were written and produced by the older group.

Tomorrow is a special day, as it is the last day of the first session. They all want to come back to camp!

We would love to expand to include more children. Please consider a donation to UkrainianChildren.org to help us increase enrollment in future camp sessions.

This is Kseniya. She lives with her family in the center of the city. They didn’t think that russians would shell their area because there are only schools, kindergartens and shops around and no soldiers at all, but one month ago their windows were destroyed because of a shell. They covered their windows with wooden pieces. It was so dark in the apartment and it was hard to live without sun light. She said thank you so much to everyone who made if possible for them to have this windows insulation.

We need funding to help keep this project going. As little as $15 can replace a window.

The need is big, but small donations will make a difference!
